9 years ago, we decided to move to Romania, to start a new chapter in our lives.
In our small camper van, we left our comfortable lives, our family and friends. Ready to start a new adventure.
And here we are, nine years later, looking back on a fantastic experience.
Cluj has become our new home. We found wonderful friends, started up a successful business, got to know the language and enriched our lives. We’ve found the Romanians a very welcoming and friendly nation, always inviting you to come in and to share their food and stories. No matter the time or relationship. Even total strangers would ask you to join them.
Romania has brought us wonderful friendships. We found friends from all over the world. It’s impossible to express the value of these friendships in words. They are priceless and they will last forever, even if we will be far apart.
Meanwhile we kept on feeling that strong connection to our family and friends back in the Netherlands. It’s been heartwarming to see how relations continued and even got stronger, even though we didn’t meet, call, talk, help enough. Whenever we popped up, we were always welcomed with open arms.
Life in another culture has taught us to be thankful, creative, open-minded and to respect one-another. We’ve learned so much from other cultures, habits, opinions and ways of living. Approaching the world and people with this open view, surprisingly wonderful meetings happen. This has brought so much joy to our lives.
All these experiences have enriched our lives. Thanks to all who contributed.
Until we meet again! Wherever and whenever our paths will cross.
See you, Tot ziens, La revedere
